This map contain the original territorial size of Cambodia’s ancestral land before Thai and Vietnam invasion. Cambodia used to share borders with Burma(Myanmar), China, Champa(present-day central Vietnam), and the state of Dai Viet( present-day Vietnam). The empire stretched as far south bordered Malaysia. Endless aggressive invasion by Thai and Dai Viet(Vietnam), Cambodia empire declined, Thailand became a country around year 1300. The invasion still continue to today, as you can see Cambodia on the map, very tiny country. Barely seen or heard by the world for so many years.

Millions of tourists from all over the world rush to visit Cambodia every year to see the greatest and one of the ancient 7 wonders of the world, Angkorwat. People are starting to understand Cambodian history and culture. Many visitors came and left Cambodia with admiration. Foreigners, professionals, scholars and anthropologists have proved that “Cambodia was the center of ancient civilization in the world.”
To better prove, there are so many traces of evidence of the Khmer empire written on ancient stones and ruins where you can find throughout Cambodia, present-day Thailand, Laos, present-day south Vietnam. There are also still huge population of Cambodian residing in Thailand, especially in the eastern part, and there are approximately 8 million Cambodian living in “south Vietnam.” They are natives to these land. The empire also have left the flavor of Khmer food and language throughout these countries.

More than 200 Khmers Krom from many villages, who have protested in front of a town hall of Chau Laing commune, Svay Tong district in the Vietnamese province of Moat Chrouk (An Giang) on 7th April, were beaten by the Vietnamese authority.
Representatives from Chi Pheng, Ta An and An Loi villages of Chau Laing commune have said through telephone that the Khmers Krom have built a bridge of 10 metres in length across a creek for crossing to go to work in their farms which located on the other side of the creek.
They’ve said that they’ve just finished transplanting about 30 hectares of their rice farms when, on the 6th of April, the Vietnamese authority came to destroy their bridge to prevent the them from crossing to work on their farms. So, they decided to hold a protest to demand to the Chau Laing commune authority to resolve the issue for them. Instead of resolving the issue for them, the Vietnamese authority have used about 300 policemen to throw rocks at the Khmer Krom protesters.
One of the protesters said: “ There were 300 of them who were throwing rocks at about 200 of us and we threw rocks back at them. Some of us were hit and some of them were hit. We want our land back to farm in order to feed our families. Now, we are very poor and have to work for others to earn a living. I am appealing to the United Nations to please help the Khmers Krom because we have suffered enormously under the (Vietnamese) oppression.”
A woman from Ta An village claimed that there were some people who have suffered minor injuries from the clashes between the Khmers Krom and the Vietnamese authority. And about 3pm the protesters have dispersed without obtaining any resolution from the Vietnamese authority.
She said: “the Vietnamese (authority) did not resolve the issue for us, they just telephoned to the commune authority to come down to threaten us.”
Radio Free Asia was unable to obtain any comments from the spokesman of the Vietnamese embassy in Cambodia at the time of this program going to air on Monday the 7th of April. //

THE GREAT CAMBODIA DEBATE:

Before John Arnone and Kurt Heck take the “Great Book Readers” advice on Who Is Who in Cambodia, they may wish to look at the true facts not in the bookstore.

—-Many years ago, I chased the current Police Chief of Cambodia around Tay Ninh Province of the then Republic of Vietnam. Though now known as Hok Lundy, he was then named Nguyen Van Son. The actual leader who asked the Vietnamese to intervene was Pen Sovan. He, of course, fell from power and was jailed in Vietnam when the relative of his wife, Pham Van Dong, lost out to the the relative of the wife of Hun Sen; Do Moi. Before this event, Hun Sen was only number 8 in the leadership sponsored by Vietnam. The reason the U.S. Government did not recognize the Government installed by Vietnam was not because it supported the Khmer Rouge, but because true Cambodians had little or no say in that Government and little now.

—-Much is made of the U.S. and Thai support for the resistance to Vietnamese occupation. Many have made this to mean support for the Khmer Rouge. The only group not needing U.S. support was the Khmer Rouge. China more than adequately supplied them at the request of then Prince Sihanouk. Many nations assisted the non-communist resistance to Vietnamese occupation.

—-The assertion the U.S. bombed and killed 200,000 Cambodians is straight out of the Vietnamese propaganda program. I was captured by the Communist Vietnamese in 1972 in Vietnam and held in Cambodia in Kratie Province. Present with the Vietnamese in that camp, at various times, were those who later were the elite of the Vietnamese faction of the Khmer Rouge. My camp had been over run by three divisions of North Vietnamese straight out of sanctuaries in Cambodia.

—At that time one of the advisers to Pol Pot was Kiet Chorn, now the Finance Minister of Cambodia. If you would like to sell fuel over the Thai border into Cambodia, see Tiep Khunnal, now the Deputy District Chief of Phnom Malai. But I remember him as the secretary of Pol Pot. Even in the early years, Kiet Chorn was known as “The Lucky Man.” His father was the man tasked by then Prince Sihanouk to sell rice through NVA General Le Duc Anh to the Communist Vietnamese Army. Did that make the U.S. question the much heralded Sihanouk “neutralist”position? Yes,it sure did.

—-Then we have Cabinet Minister Sok An – but I remember him by the name his mother gave him in his birth place of Vietnam; Hoa Van Anh. All these wonderful fellows met as Khmer Rouge under the tutelage of the North Vietnamese Army.

—-It is the above and much more, including the fact Tiep Kunnal is married to the powerful former wife of Pol Pot, which truly denies the Cambodian people justice. Then there is the fact that the Vietnamese and Hun Sen allowed former Hun Sen mentor Leng Sary to join Fidel in Cuba, far from the short arm of Cambodian law.

—-Before chastising others based on your latest book purchase, I suggest you get some real experience.

Top rouge:

-Hok Lundy named Nguyen Van Son, top police chief in Cambodia
-Sok An named Hoa Van Anh,
-Hun Sen, Vietnam’s puppet
-Vietnamese Sokimex group

*Norodom Sihanouk was a neutralist, he opposed to the emergence of Pol Pot regime. But later he joined and helped Vietnam during Vietnam American war with the hope that Vietnam would return lower Cambodia(Kampuchea Krom), present-day “south Vietnam”as promised by Ho Chi Minh(Nguyen Ai Quoc). Instead,Vietnam turned around betrayed the king and took full advantage of invading midland Cambodia.

*Important note*
Effective and aggressive war did not plan within months, years OR decades, Vietnamization over Cambodia has been a long plan dated back 18 century. Without big support from France and former Soviet Union(Russia), Vietnam couldn’t do it alone. Thai also took great part of invading Cambodia as well in terms of territory, human trafficking, raping Cambodian women… to name a few. Cambodia today is highly infected and plagued by violence, invasion, power, greed, corruption…etc. It is a “cancer” in our society.

Our country and culture are at risk by invaders. What should we do? How do we deal with this complicated issue? How should we heal such contagious disease? To recover this aggressive disease, the least we can do now is to ESTABLISH ourselves, we need to invest great deal in EDUCATION. ALL CAMBODIAN should seek education in every way regardless at school or home and whatever skill that benefit you, those Cambodian who are living abroad, no excuse, you have the chance to receive full education unlike most of our sisters and brothers in Cambodia. Attend any free learning session or programs. Volunteers is great for learning experience. Aim high. Follow the example of Jewish, they gathered themselves and created an intellectual society. 6 million Jewish were executed by the nazi regime more than Cambodian death toll. And the Jews came out strong, most of them are doctors, lawyers, professors etc. Cambodian are capable people, we can do it too. With education and action, we can build a strong society, strong and healthy society makes us great nation.
