My grandma said, “granddaughter, Cambodia is a country with great ancient civilization. Everybody knows about us. Tell our people not to worry. When strangers take away our land and copy our food that means they like it— they want to be Cambodian even if they change our names. They want what we eat and what we have. The more they take, the more they look like and speak like us. And that’s a beautiful thing! Don’t worry because those strangers help keeping Cambodian culture alive.”

Mr.Nobert Klein,
Thank you for your input! Welcome to SKO.
As I mentioned earlier about Khmer font, ‘Only Windows Server 2008 and Windows Vista support Khmer font,’ I meant it supports IME-Input Method Editor- “a program or operating system component that allows computer users to enter characters and symbols not found on their keyboard.” Well, although I installed this software in my hard drive, I still have difficult time finding Khmer symbols and alphabets. I followed keyboard layout which I found through google search but somehow it didn’t work well. I am wondering if I need to work on typing Khmer more or is it not all keyboard layout are compatible for all software?
“Actually this is not the case. You can use Khmer in Windows XP and in Linux and in Apple/Macintosh computers with the international standard UNICODE Khmer fonts, which the Ministry of Education is also introducing in all Teachers Training Colleges etc., and which is considered the new standard by the National Informatioon Technology Development Authority. You can find all information and download everything here.” http://www.khmeros.info/drupal/

Not many of us are aware of the kind of fish we consume and what it contains in the fish. Some fish are highly toxic, some are health friendly. According to THE NATIONAL REPORT DEFENSE COUNCIL ( in USA,) higher mercury in fish can be potentially dangerous to human. Please carefully buy them and look for the least mercury. See chart below. Another thing I’d like to mention, I heard that fish from China such as eels are mostly farmed raise which used pellets hormone to make the fish grow big for selling- this can harm your health. Also, most salted and frozen fish imported from Vietnam and Thailand contain the kind of chemical substance which use to preserve freshness. The color of those fish look fresh and pinkish. Be aware when purchasing. READ label content. If you decide to buy them SOAK WELL with lukewarm water for 20 minutes or more then rinse out a few times to get rid of the harmful chemical.

June 4th marks the 59th Anniversary of Cambodia’s loss territory to Vietnam. The French illegally transferred southern Cambodia (Kampuchea Krom) to north Vietnam. Since 1949 -for fifty nine years - –, many southern Cambodian (Khmer Krom/Kampuchea Krom) have been living in the darkness, suffering, torturing, ethnic cleansing, disease, human right abuse, genocide…under Vietnamese regime. Cambodian were forced to be Vietnamese, speak, dress, and obey their rules. The communist’s media, billboard signs sending fatherly-like message to Kampuchea Krom that Vietnam is one. Play all tricks and lies by all means and erasing the original Cambodian history books and rewritten in Vietnamese text books that southern Cambodia did not exist and that southern Cambodian (Kampuchea Krom) are the Vietnamese “ethnic minority.” Cambodian land, street, building, signs that were written in Khmer language were torn and replaced in Vietnamese language and mostly in red and yellow colors. June 4th, 1949, Cambodian southern territory was stolen and became “south” Vietnam. North and south Vietnam joined. Dark history for Cambodia.
Today, “Khmer Krom communities around the world are currently heading to their local temples to commemorate the 59th Anniversary of loss of Kampuchea-Krom to Vietnam. The rich fertile land of the Mekong Delta was transferred to Vietnam by France on 4th June 1949 without the consent of the indigenous Khmer Krom people.
