Cambodian parliamentary elections will be held on July 27, 2008. I encourage all Khmer citizen to vote. Every vote counts.Tell your family and friends. Please take action. It is important to have the right leader, leader who works for his people, by his people and with his people. Leader who cares for his country.  Not for his pocket or for someone else. Almost 30 years of war, poverty stricken and  corruption, it’s time for a change. Democracy is the way to go. It’s a big chance. Do something good for Cambodia, go vote!  Please mark your calendar and reminder. 

Comparison between the two candidates:

Mr.Sam Rainsy (Som Raeangsee)
He’s the founder of SRP, Sam Rainsy Party since 1998. A democratic leader who helps find justice for his people. He brings about peace and stability for Cambodian. He defends democracy and achieves  international recognition. He was awarded for Liberal International’s prestigious Prize for Freedom in 2006. He defends national independence and territorial integrity. “Sam Rainsy has been Cambodia’s leading champion of democracy, human rights activist for over a decade. And while he faces danger with his life, Sam Rainsy  continues to fight to implement freedom and democracy in a dictatorial Cambodia.” He’s a professional, great scholar, good listener, noble soul to his people. He’s the man who stand and fight for Cambodian of all cause. Despite many bad attempt by the CPP, Mr.Sam Rainsy never give up his seat, he returns and becomes stronger each time.

Negative side: SRP has no military back up, no weapon or tanks.
Positive side: He focuses on education, technology, labors safety and human right…etc.

EDUCATION BACKGROUND:

High school in Phnom Penh (Lycée Descartes and Lycée Sisowath) and Paris (Lycée Janson de Sailly).

University degrees in:
Business Administration (Master of Business Administration from INSEAD - Fontainebleau - France) - 1980.
Accounting (Diplôme d’Etudes Comptables Supérieures issued by the French Ministry of Education) - 1979.
Economics (Maîtrise + Diplôme d’Etudes Supérieures de Sciences Economiques de la Faculté de Droit et des Sciences Economiques de Paris) - 1973.
Political Science (Diplôme de l’Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris) - 1971.

WORKING EXPERIENCE IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR IN FRANCE

• Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DR Gestion, a Paris-based investment company (1988 - 1992).
• Bank Director at Paluel-Marmont, a French bank specialized in financial research and stock investment (1985 - 1988).
• Financial analyst and investment manager with various banks and financial institutions in Paris, including Manufacturers Hanover and Paribas (1971 - 1985).

Hun Sen
He was appointed as a prime minister in 1980 by Hanoi government and installed CPP, Cambodia People Party.
Negative side: According to the UN  and Human Right Organization, this party plays an important role in committing crime against the citizen. Bring in prostitutes, corruption, drugs, illegal aliens, casinos, human trafficking and land grabbing. Big gap between rich and poor.
Positive side: Booming economy. CPP promotes business enterprise, real estates, oil wealth and tourism.

EDUCATION BACKGROUND:
-secondary education in the Lycé Indra Devi, Pnom Penh Cambodia
University degree in:
B.A. in Politics from the Cambodian Tertiary Education
Ph.D. in Political Science from the National Political Academy in Hanoi (1991), and two Honorary Doctorates
Ph. D. in Politics from the Southern California University for Professional Studies, USA (1995)
Ph.D. of Law from IOWA Wesleyan College, USA (1996).

*Note* Hun Sen has too many Ph.d’s. How he got his Ph.D  is a mystery. As a scholar myself, it took me over 4 years to complete my  BA. And as far as I know, 6-7 years to get a MA or MBA. And 10 years to get a Ph.d. It’s impossible to obtain so many ph.ds and doctorates at the same time in a time of war. Unless he’s a genius.
